Stars from Coronation Street, Emmerdale and Hollyoaks aim for the million!

Live Celebrity Who Wants To Be A Millionaire? Soaps Stars Weekend will take place on Saturday 20th August at 9.15pm and Sunday 21st August at 9pm on ITV1!

Viewers are in for a treat with a double dose of Who Wants To Be A Millionaire? featuring their favourite past and present soap stars answering questions LIVE, to raise as much money as possible for their chosen charities.

Coronation Street, Emmerdale and Hollyoaks come together - not only to win money for their chosen charities, but also to raise a wad of cash for one lucky viewer at home. The pot will continue to build over the two shows, potentially creating the biggest ever viewer prize on Who Wants To Be A Millionaire?

Hoping to help out Coronation Street’s longest serving resident, Michelle Collins joins William Roache to win money for Rainbows Children's Hospice. Plus putting their turbulent relationship to one side, Emmerdale’s mother and son partnership, Danny Miller and Lucy Pargeter, join forces on Saturday 20th August, in an attempt to win big for Once Upon a Smile and SAFE@LAST.

“I’ve grown up watching Chris Tarrant on Who Wants To Be A Millionaire? so getting into the hot seat is going to be very daunting!” said Danny. Lucy added “I’ve downloaded the Who Wants To Be A Millionaire? app on my phone but we’ve yet to get past £1,000!”

Ex-EastEnders stars, Joe Swash and Ricky Groves, will also be combining their general knowledge to try and reach the magic million.

On Sunday 21st August Coronation Street and Hollyoaks unite with Rovers Return barmaid, Kym Marsh, joining her fiancé Jamie Lomas - who will be the brains of this Soap Star pairing?

Emmerdale’s long serving double act, Mark Charnock and Dominic Brunt, also hit the hot seat, but can slow witted Marlon and bumbling Paddy win the million jackpot? Commenting about his involvement in the show, Mark Charnock said: “It’s such an iconic show and I’ve always wanted to do it, but I can imagine Dominic and I will be clinging to each other, panicking, going red and sweating!"

Finally Hollyoaks McQueen sisters Gemma Merna and Jennifer Metcalfe try to shake their ditzy image in an attempt to climb the money tree.

With further Soap Star pairings still to be announced, who will prove to be street wise and who will be a square when playing against the BIG BAD CLOCK?

Overseeing proceedings is quiz master Chris Tarrant and the cash won by the contestants will be shared 50/50 between their charity and a lucky viewer. A special Soap Star Weekend, including a trip to the set of Emmerdale and a stay in a luxury hotel and spa in the Yorkshire countryside, is also up for grabs!

During the show a phone number and the website for the free route of entry will appear on the TV screen. Viewers will then have a set amount of time to phone in and at the end of the show one viewer will be randomly selected.

They will be put through to the studio where Chris Tarrant will ask them one question. They must answer within a set amount of time. Get it right and they win the cash. Get it wrong and the chance passes to the next viewer on the line, until someone answers correctly.
