Celebrity Who Wants To Be A Millionaire?

more famous faces announced for New Years Specials
1st January, 8pm AND 8th January, 8pm on ITV1
An all-star line-up will take their place in the Millionaire hotseat in two New Year Specials to attempt to win money for their favourite charities. A dozen famous faces will join Chris Tarrant on 1st January at 8pm and 8th January at 8pm on ITV to start 2013 with a bang.
Taking part on 1st January are 2012’s hottest celebrity couple, pop princess Una Healy and her rugby ace husband Ben Foden. Speaking about her involvement Una said; “Ben & I are huge fans of the show and have watched it for years! When we were asked if we wanted to play for our chosen charities, Marie Curie and Niamh's Next Step we jumped at the opportunity! We can't wait to take part and hopefully raise lots of money for these great causes.”
Marie Curie Cancer Care provides nursing care, free of charge, to terminally ill people, giving them the chance to choose to be cared for at home. It was established in 1948 and this year the charity expects to provide care to around 29,000 terminally ill patients in the community and in its nine hospices, along with support for their families. More than 2,700 nurses, doctors and other healthcare professionals help provide this care. Marie Curie provides the largest number of hospice beds outside the National Health Service. http://www.mariecurie.org.uk/
Niamh's Next Step are a charity dedicated to raising awareness of Neuroblastoma and funding research and educational awareness of this childhood cancer as well as helping the families of children diagnosed with the disease. http://www.niamhsnextstep.com/
Actor and funny man Omid Djalili is aiming to reach the magical million for Chain of Hope and is playing alongside explorer and television presenter Bear Grylls who hopes to win big for the Scout Association.
Every year the Scout Association helps 400,000 young people in the UK enjoy new adventures, experience the outdoors, interact with others, gain confidence and have the opportunity to reach their full potential. Chain of Hope is a medical charity set up to provide life saving treatment for children who are suffering from war torn and developing countries . Chain of Hope sends teams of specialists surgeons, doctors nurses and technicians overseas together with the equipment to provide heart surgery free of charge. In addition to this Chain of hope provides vital equipment, infrastructure and Teaching/mentoring programmes to the local teams in many countries including the middle East, Ethiopia, Mozambique, Jamaica, Uganda… Doctors and nurses are trained either on site or through specialist training programmes in the specialist institutions and hospitals with which Chain of Hope works (such as Great Ormond Street Hospital, Royal Brompton Hospital , Guys and Evelina, Birmingham Children’s Hospital and Papworth Hospital). www.chainofhope.org
Olympic swimming sensation Ellie Simmonds will be hoping to win gold for The Dwarf Sports Association playing alongside musical theatre star Michael Ball who hopes to win much needed cash for Shooting Star Chase.
The Dwarf Sports Association, a charity which aims to make regular sporting opportunity accessible and enjoyable to anyone and everyone of restricted growth in the United Kingdom. They promote competitive sport for dwarf athletes both in the United Kingdom and internationally, providing training opportunities for the World Dwarf Games, the Paralympics and the Olympics. http://www.dsauk.org/
Shooting Star Chase is a charity caring for local families with a child or teenager with a life-limiting condition. Shooting Star Chase is a children’s hospice service which currently helps over 600 families living in western London, Surrey and West Sussex. Taking a hop, skip and a jump into the hotseat on 8th January, Olympic gold medalist Greg Rutherford is playing for SportsAid and is partnered with fiery dragon Duncan Bannatyne, who is supporting Mary’s Meals. Will their answers stack up to a cash tower or will they leave empty handed?
Duncan said; “I’m very, very nervous about coming on the show in front of a live audience. I just want to do my best and make as much as I can for Mary’s Meals, which is a brilliant charity. It’s an absolute privilege to be coming on with Greg, I think his gold medal win was brilliant - I just hope he knows more than I do!”

Mary’s Meals, an international movement that sets up school feeding projects in communities where poverty and hunger prevent children from gain an education. Mary’s Meals provide a daily meal in a place of education, chronically poor children are attracted to the classroom where they can gain a basic education that provides an escape route from poverty. Greg said; “I’m both excited and nervous, and really looking forward to doing the show. I’ve seen it for years and years, but obviously taking part in the studio will be very different to watching at home! I’m determined to raise a lot of money for Sport England, and since Duncan’s a very clever businessman, I think between us we’ll hopefully do well.”
Controversial Coronation Street onscreen couple Charlie Condou and Samia Ghadie are hoping to win big for their chosen charities The Terrence Higgins Trust and East Cheshire Hospice.
The Terrance Higgins Trust is the largest voluntary sector provider of HIV and sexual health services across the UK, running services out of local centres across Great Britain. The Trust works to empower those living with HIV in the UK to maximise their health and wellbeing, as well as campaigning to eradicate stigma and discrimination. They also lead public and political support for sexual health issues, including providing greater access to local sexual health services and encouraging people to value their sexual health. http://www.tht.org.uk/
East Cheshire Hospice provides specialist care for adults suffering from life-limiting illnesses for which there is no cure. Their mission is to make every day count for our patients, and help them, their families and carers live life to the full. They care for the whole person, aiming to meet all their needs, whether they are medical, emotional or spiritual or around the challenges of daily-living. All the services they offer at the Hospice are free. But with less than 23% of their annual costs coming from the government they rely heavily on the support and generosity of the local community. Impressionist and comedian Jon Culshaw is playing for Starlight and is joined by Debra Stephenson. She said about her appearance; "I'm really excited about WWTBAM I feel so privileged to have the chance of being able to raise a significant amount of money for my local Children's hospice Julia's House and therefore make a difference to the quality of life for children in Dorset who's life expectancy is under 18."
Starlight grants wishes to seriously and terminally ill children and also provides entertainment in every children's hospital ward and hospice in the UK to distract children from the fear pain and isolation often caused by their illness. http://www.starlight.org.uk/
Julia's House is Dorset's only hospice dedicated to children with life-limiting conditions. The majority of the children we care for are unlikely to live beyond the age of 18.
